The "Schweizer Ferientag" is the largest and most important industry event in Switzerland. Switzerland Tourism organises this event in close collaboration with Swiss destinations and regions as well as partner organisations in order to support the national and international tourism marketing. Around 1'300 people take part each year.
Martin Nydegger, Director of Switzerland Tourism set the following goal: "2021 should show the industry the way out of this incomparable crisis in recent history. With this event we need to bring back enthusiasm and motivation for what we all love: Switzerland."
Motivating an entire industry after the biggest crisis in recent history is a challenge in itself. Switzerland Tourism took on the challenge head first and tasked us and our friends from Sally & Friends with creating the annual "Ferientag" show for them; for the first time fully virtual.
Showcasing a firework of activities and highlights, culminating in the Federer-DeNiro Ad, our task was to plan a story that would keep up the pace and create content that conveys all of the energy that Switzerland Tourism is putting into its recovery.
Instead of the classic split screen approach of ‘speaker here - presentation there’ we decided to go with a fully immersive storytelling presentation where the keynote was shown on a 18m screen with the presenters filmed by 4 cameras standing inside their content. "Special challenges require more than conventional presentations.", says Hannes Sigrist, Executive Creative Director at FS Parker.
"I'm very impressed how we were able to motivate and create enthusiasm with this year's edition as digital format. This positive impact of the show gives hope and courage for the whole industry.", says Martin Nydegger.
